Culture, Emotion, & Well-Being Lab

university of arizona.jpeg

Welcome! We examine how people's beliefs and values affect emotional processes underlying the well-being and health of individuals. Particularly, we are interested in the role of culture as socially shared beliefs and value systems that are embodied in practices and social interactions and make up our everyday realities.

Our lab, born in the 2021 fall, examines culture at multiple levels, including comparisons across global regions, nations, and within-nation contexts such as socioeconomic class and ethnicity. We also use a range of research methods including lab experiments, qualitative interviews, physiological data collection, secondary/big data analysis, and daily diary design. With these diverse approaches, the goal is to build a common framework that can be applied to emotional and physical well-being across cultures.
